Referral Management: How to Send and Accept Referrals

Your PepCare dashboard makes it easy to manage patient referrals securely and efficiently. Whether you're sending a referral to a trusted provider or accepting one into your workflow, here's how each step works.your content here.

How to Send a Referral

  • Go to the "Referrals" Section
    From your left-hand side menu, click “Referrals.”
  • Click “Create Referral”
    Use the blue “Create Referral” button at the top right.
  • Enter Patient Information
    Fill in the patient’s name and select the referral type (e.g., Virtual or In-person).
  • Choose the Referred Provider
    Select a provider from your PepCare network list, or search manually.
  • Add Notes & Attachments (Optional)
    You can include any necessary notes, images, or documents to support the referral.
  • Click “Send”
    Once you’ve filled in the required fields, click “Send Referral.”
    Your referral will now appear under the "Referrals Sent" tab with the status “Referral Sent.”

 

How to Accept a Referral

When another provider sends a patient to you, here’s how to review and accept the referral:

  • Open the “Referrals” Tab
    Navigate to “Referrals” and switch to the “Referrals Received” tab.
  • Review the Patient Details
    You'll see all incoming referrals with the patient's name, date/time, referral type, and the referring provider.
  • Click the Three Dots (⋯)
    Next to each referral, click the options menu to view more details or update the status.
  • Accept or Decline the Referral
    You can update the referral status to “Active” or mark it for monitoring based on your workflow.
